The mission of the LAB is to support scientific and educational outreach for licensed and non-licensed providers, exercise professionals and consumers, through professional accreditation application and organizational adherence, instructional design, and the selection and implementation of Learning Management Systems.
Gaining accreditation and/or recognition for licensed and non-licensed professions, is key to the educational mission of many organizations. However, the process is expensive and for organizations filling out their first application, the language can be confusing. The LAB takes you through the process step-by-step, while coaching your team on the meaning of the criteria, moving you toward full understanding, adherence, and independence.
We have successfully achieved accreditation for organizations seeking, Inter-Professional Continuing Education (IPCE), ACCME, ANCC and ACPE, as well as recognition for organizations through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and Vocational School Licensure in NYC and Boston, opening the first two licensed Personal Training Schools in the Nation.
In addition, the LAB has secured continuing education credits for multiple organizations seeking to provide continuing education through various certifying bodies in Health and Wellness fields such as, Personal Training, Nutrition, Group Fitness and Wellness Coaching.
Instructional design is the systematic process by which instructional materials are designed, developed, and delivered. The terms instructional design, instructional technology, educational technology, learning experience design (LX), curriculum design, and instructional systems design (ISD), are often used interchangeably.
With over 20 years of experience, the LAB designs cohesive and effective training curriculums by analyzing the complex skill sets needed to achieve organizational goals, and learner needs. By considering existing content and identifying areas of improvement, a comprehensive curriculum is designed that clearly maps current and future content to maximize the learner experience and increase the impact on the organizational goal.
Selecting the best system to manage your educational content and provide an engaging learner experience, can be illusive. With so many options it's crucial to select the tool that meets the needs of your organization and your organizations learners. There are many excellent options but there are better options.
The LAB has supported over 25 organizations, in professional education and training environments, both accredited and non-accredited, in the selection and implementation of wide variety Learning Management Systems.
After evaluating course offerings against andrological best practices, ACSM’s Certification Board became aware of the need to provide access to a more robust online learning experience for candidates across of our certification programs. ACSM needed to provide a highly engaging, updated resource, that better prepared candidates to be safe and effective exercise professionals, and, in turn, perform successfully on the ACSM certification exams.
The Certification Board was keenly interested in a visually dynamic, easily accessible, design-forward, interactive tool. The team at the LAB quickly and professionally fulfilled this need. Our partnership was defined by innovative, creative instructional design ideas and, above all else, a collaborative spirit. The LAB used innovative instructional design methods, and a wide variety of tools, to develop a high-fidelity, preparatory resource, that we are confident will be a substantial revenue driver and, more importantly, will lead to the personal and professional success of our future certified professionals.
